Any of you guys seen this before. I only came across it 15 minutes ago.
"Holy sidecars Batman".
Talk about thinking outside the square. This is Smokey Yunick's Hirst Floor Shift Special from 1964. I believe it tried to qualify for the Indy 50 that year...... And what's everyones opinion of driver safety on the left side.....Hmmmm

I would say it's a commonly known Yunick design here in the states.

I remember it well. I got to watch it run during qualifying. Duane Carter tried it and didn't care for it. Bobby Johns, primarily a stock car driver, took it out on a qualifying day and spun it. I believe it happened coming out of the first turn. When they first brought it out, somebody commented that having the driver hung out like that looked dangerous. Smokey said, "If you want to be safe, stay in the garage. But you could drop a hammer on your foot back there."

Smokey was like Mickey Thompson, who used to say that for a guy like him, the normal way of doing things was nothing more than a jumping off place.

That thing looks like a monster!!! That right ear must be hurting though with all the noise right next to you
