Right on, Bobby! This new batch looks to be taken by John Verhoeff. From since I can remember, your pop was (and still is) one of my long time heroes.
When I was a little kid and I would see him, I was always too afraid of going up to say HI. Then when I worked @ Englewood as a tween & teen I was still leery of approaching him. To me, it was like meeting a Beatle or something. He was THAT BIG in my mind. I'm sure he would have been totally cool if I asked for an autograph.

Speaking of photos, I would love to see what Darrell Smith has in those boxes "under the stairs".

Ahhh, and how could I forget!?! Bobby Jackson was was the only other one who ever won a Modified main, Late Model main, and Figure 8 main out at Englewood. Larry Dechant was the other.

Yes, Jerry we need to see what is hiding under the stairs. One of these days or nights we will have to meet at Badwrench and see.

Jerry, you should have approached him, ask Darrell he was a down to earth man and ALWAYS willing to share time with his fans.

Today is the 22nd anniversary of his death. RIP, Dad I love you.

Not many people know this, but after he "retired" from car racing and started his own concrete business he started racing motocross. The year he passed away he finished second in points and only raced half a year as he passed in June. He was that far ahead in points to start the year. He always gave 100% in everything he did.

Is and always will be my HERO!

Oh yeah, I still regret my shyness from back then. I would have been knocked out just to talk to him.

You all will never guess what I came across last night while helping out a neighbor... An almost brand new " Jet-X" car wash system. I remember Jet-X Sponsored one of the cars that my dad a Darrell Smith took to Islip New York for the World Figure 8 championship. I am pretty sure that Ralph Proctor was the creator of this system... Still in the box with all the directions, only thing missing is the Jet'X Suds!!
