From the Ody Fellows collection, Ody, driving the #12 modified, has just won an event at Colorados Englewood Speedway. This is a great shot, in that it enables us to see the "Welcome To" sign which became an icon for the speedway. The sign was hung on the south side, from a small building where the lights were controlled from. This building served double duty as Rich Codner used it for social gatherings during and after the races. Adult beverages could sometime be found in the old block building!
Englewood began as a dirt track. Eventually it was paved and the 3/8's mile was provided with an "X" to accomedate the East coast inspired Figure 8 races. I loved to go to this track on Saturday nights, but Lakeside was my destination location on Sunday.
I do not know if Ody owned this pretty mod, but if anyone knows its history, please post it. Thanks.
