Here is a shot of Doug Longos sportsman from the Rick Losh collection. This picture was shot at Colorados Red Rocks Amphitheatre. I am not sure of the year, but I would guess it is 1983. Doug competed with this car at Lakeside Speedway. When you lined up 30 of this size cars on the 1/5th mile oval, holy tomoly, talk about a traffic jam....

Doug was a tough competitor and always had some very fine machinery. This car was no exception to that rule. This car was lettered and striped by our mutual friend Rick Wasilko. Great job Rick.

Unfortunatly, Doug passed away suddenly in 2003. Doug is missed by all of us who new him for his good sense of humor and his readiness to help anyone who needed it.

Hi superstroke, "Miss Peggy" here,
Mr. lakeside #29 thinks the picture was from 1983 or 1984, but he isn't absolute. Doug was a great man. He didn't know us at all and lent us his trailer to take #29 to the Saber's car show in 1983. Gary Ball brought us and the car home with his tow truck. The car had no steering at the time as we hurried to get it into the show for the CARC. In the booth with us was Rick Carelli's coupe, Moose Harmon's coupe and the late model of Craig Holmes.

Thankyou for putting the picture of Doug's car up.
Peggy

Your Welcome Peggy. I left a message for Chris, but I have not seen a reply. I just wanted to say HI. I am glad to see you guys posting. I have a picture of your #29 that I will post soon. It is the car I lettered for you. I will never forget the sound that that car produced. One night, At Lakeside, I was sitting in the grandstands (the north to be precise) and was headed to the john at the north end. They had just started a race as I was leaving, but I did not see the lineup. They through the green and I could distinctly hear your car enter the north turn. I think it was because you ran a different fan blade than anyone else. I cannot remember. It made a sound like a 747 taking off, more like a jet engine of sorts. I remember the morning I lettered the car. It was a beautiful summer day. Crazy HUH?

Doug was indeed a wonderful human being. May he rest in peace.

That was 84' Doug was a great guy. That year we battled for the championship .Normally it was just one race that separated us in points .That car was beautiful and unfortunately a little faster then my car was. But I told him I wasn't going to let him have 2 championships in a row. It saddens me to hear he past away. I truly valued his friendship . RIP Doug!
