From the Rick Losh collection, this shot of Pat Petries black Chevrolet Late Model was taken while it was being shown at the Sabres Auto Exhibition, held at Denver CO's Currigan Exhibition Hall. I do not recall the year, but it was probably the early 70's. If you look closely at the photo, on the roof, starting at the "B" post back, it has been coated with verigated gold leaf. Pat loved verigated leaf, and had two modifieds that had the whole top of the car coated with the multi-colored leaf. This took place at he and his fathers gas station which used to sit on the north east corner of 44th and Sheridan. I believe it was an Enco filling station. When I lettered the cars, gold leaf was all over that station! Anyone who has ever watched or used gold leaf, you would know what a mess it can be. Those modifieds are two cars I do not have pictures of. If you have them, or know someone that does, please post them. I would love to see them again.
