Pueblo Speedway paved 1/5 th mile located off Prairie Ave on Pueblos south side.
Built in 1948 for midget racing.
I was 8 years old and I still remember when they built it. My dad worked with Carl Mishmash, the promoter. When they paved the track my dad loaded my brother and I in his 1937 Pontiac and we made laps around the track to help pack the fresh pavement.
We didn't miss many races with the midgets back then.
Later on I would ride my bicycle to the track on Sat and clean out the pop and beer containers (cattle watering troughs) and restack them ready for ice Sunday morning for Sundays race.
Later I was promoted to track sweeper and got to take pictures from the infield.
Even later my friends and I built a 1938 Ford stockcar taking turns driving each race. Our car didn't survive the whole season, but we had a blast.
Great memories and an exciting time for me.

I do remember the Penrose Speedway. In fact last time I paid attention you could still see remains of the banking.

Who drove the 40 at Pueblo?

Wow, in 1999 I gave all the pueblo speedway photos I took to Mike Daugherty
who was doing the Rocky Mountain motorsports monthly at the time.
The photos you posted of the #100 car on the trailer and the #25 car were two of my shots.

Surwe glad I found out about this site.
