This is a shot of a young Howard Lammers at Englewood taken in 1965,
picture shows just how far the "Late Models" have come over the years.

Wow... check out the roll cage on Howard's car. It's actually protruding out of the front window opening. I wonder who that is next to him?

Hey Bruce! Cool photo of the era. Check out those tow-bar stubs on Howard's front bumper. Back then, you were racin large if you had an old single-axle trailer just big enough to cram a late-model '55-'57 onto it. Back in '68-'69. we used a home-built farmer-trailer (old hay hauler) to tow our #84 '55 Chevy out to Intermountain Speedway in Cheyenne. Luckily, it was only a few miles from the motorcycle shop to the race track. We had to borrow a much better trailer when we towed our #84 the 100-miles down to Lakeside Speedway for the end-of-season Tri-State Championship races in the late '60s. ~VB

That would be Jack Speers driving the Johnny Haas Lincoln-Mercury sponsored Late Model in the background there. Jack also had a twin Figure 8 he drove that year (1967) also sponsored by the dealership. Cool photo.

Mr. Lammers roll cage is kinda hip! Some guys told me about cheaply built roll cages from the early to mid-'60's on some cars that were made from everything from lumber to a kid's swingset. Crazy!
