Englewoods "Pink Panther" Sweeper

When I would venture to Englewood Speedway in the 70's, the "Pink Panther" sweeper was as much a part of the program as the races themselve. I believe Pete Brandenburg hand lettered the novelty sweeper. It and Lake Codner were most always there (sometimes Lake Codner would dry up) to greet Englewoods fans. You can also see the lineup chalk board in this picture which comes from the Archie Johnston collection.

Neat to see the ol' sweeper again! Actually, the ol' truck was lettered as the Pink "PANTER" not 'panther', even though it sported a cartoon pic of the feline.

Pete Brandenburg indeed lettered up the truck, but it's not known if it was just a typo on Pete's part, something to do with copyrights, or just because the old truck would just chug along slowly that it became the 'Pink Panter'.
