My name is Aaron Eggert.Ifound this site as I was looking for pictures of my father. Walter (skip) Eggert. He raced stock cars, and mostly midgets from the 1960 (late) to the early 80"s. I just havent found many pictures of him.For me the kicker is he is not even in the RMMRA hall of fame.He may never have one a main event, but he was deicated with all his heart to the RMMRA. Always top 10 in points, served on the board of directors. He owned 5-6 of his own midgets, and drove a couple for Del Meltching. I dont know, call me crazy, but Skip Eggert should with out a doubt be in the RMMRA hall of fame. Any feed back?

Aaron, great to have you on the site. Me and my brother and Dad (my dad drove midgets one season 1959 with RMMRA) seldom missed a midget show in Denver from 1960 till the early 1990's. I remember your dad in the midgets during the early 1970's through mid 70's. He drove a interesting white roadster style midget one season. I'll see what I can dig up as far as photo's, as for point standings, I've got points up till about 1982, and I only see your dad in the top 10 one time, in 1976 he was 9th in driver points. If you have any documents, news clippings, programs, etc., let us know what you come up with. Bill Hill wrote a RMMRA history in 2000, called "Decades of Daring" covering the RMMRA from 1935 until 1976, your dad is mentioned twice in the book. RMMRA does not really have a Hall of Fame, Gary Martelon is the RMMRA historian of note in Denver. RMMRA board members vote on a life time member from time to time, people who have contributed in great measure to Colorado midget racing, may receive a life time member award, and any driver winning the RMMRA championship is a automatic life member. I was RMMRA "Rookie of the year, without prior experience" in 1982 and raced with them on and off till 1996, and was RMMRA president in 1989, and a board member in 1983. There will be no hall of fame or life time membership for me (and I don't care either, I only won 3 heat races in my career), but it's great to have you sharing your memories on this site, keep posting!

From a 1971 program for the USAC midget races in Denver that year, a shot of Skip Eggert in the Pat Eggert Offy powered #23 roadster. That's Gene Pacheco on the inside, in the Schleiger Bros. #22 Chevy II, Lakeside Speedway 1971

From the RMMRA 1973 program, picture is from 1972 action, Skip Eggert spinning the Del Melching #4 Edmunds Chevy II, at Lakeside Speedway, that's Terry Plummer on the outside, and Jim Tunstead in the #47 way up high.
