Hello:

I'm Jimmy Kouba, son of Earl and Ethel Kouba. My son, Jake, and I are going through the scan and repair process on Mom and Dad's extensive collection of photos and clippings from the 30s-70s of racing. I plan to post many shots and would like help identifying some of the drivers and cars.

I'm an active winged sprint car driver in the Minnesota area, currently driving the 34TW owned by Dave and Margaret Tabor.

Cheers
Jimmy

Cool. Thanks!
Glad to share the family treasures with folks that appreciate the history.

Here are a few starters. The 34TW is my curretn ride. This shot also has Jody Rosenboom in the #27. The win shot is from Ashland WI in 2003. Then there is my first racer (prepped by brother Joe). For Colorado people, this would likely be how you'd remember me. Then a shot of Earl, Joe & Judy from 1956.

Jimmy great to have you on board! I've followed your career somewhat in National Speed Sport News, the name is what got my attention. When I see a story about sprints in that part of the country, I always check to see if a Kouba shows up in the results. It's pretty easy to find your name as you seem to finish up front pretty often. Thanks again for your contributions to this site! Doesn't your brother Joe also drive, or did, drive sprints also? Hey Jimmy that ad for the "Santa Anita Lounge" on the hood of the #55 reminds me of a story. In the late 1950's, can't remember the year exactly, the Denver midget guys were running at Englewood Speedway on the dirt. A visiting national driver came to Denver for a couple weeks, and was tending bar at the "Santa Anita Lounge", and he went out and cleaned house at Englewood against the locals. That visiting driver was Jud Larson. That was always one of my dads favorite stories to tell.
