From the Lou Wendzel collection circa 1940s at Lakeside Speedway in Denver, CO:
Does anyone know who owned and/or drove this #6 midget back then? ~VB

Earl Kouba drove a #6 to the Merchant's park championship in 1939. Here is a pic of that car. The #6 was usually acquired (points determined the number, like cycles today) by Buzz Buzzard. I think, but am not sure, that this 1939 car was Buzz' car and Dad was the driver. Not at all sure who would have been in the car in 40 or 41. Dad did some driving, but so did other guys and Buzz had a lot of different driver's in his cars.

the # 6 car was owned by Earl. It was the first car he owned. Pappy Hedrick drove the car for Earl in 41. it was sold at our auction in 1965 when we moved to Minnesota. I, as a boy, would pretend race that old car. It sat on a trailer in a old barn at Earls little ranch until we moved to the main ranch in 1961. there as a 9 year old I tried to make a running car out of it but failed. My Briggs wouldn't pull it off the spot.
