O.K, here's a 1955 CARC program complete, with qualifying times written in, I don't know who recorded these, it's not my dad's handwriting. I noticed my dad wasn't racing on this night, at least he did not time in (#51 John Guttormson)

Wow,talk about bringing back memories....I ate a lot of burgers at the Rockybilt hamburger place at Quebec & (7236) E. Colfax.I was stationed at Lowery Air Force Base near there in 1958.I noticed they have a large ad in that program.~Olen

This is a great post, those '50's programs were neat with all the ads. I'm old enough to remember most of the companies. The story of Elmer Sauer's ex-armored car is cool.

Oh yeah, those Rockybilt burgers were great. I munched my share of them.

Thanks

On the program page that lists the (CARC) track officials, it lists Ivanhoe "Ivan" Rosenberg as the lightman. Ivan was hit by one of stockers when walking toward the south turn while backward to traffic and thrown up against the guard rail, Ivan suffered very serious injuries as a result. Maybe Joe, Gary, or Ivy Rosenberg could put more light on that incident.

To my regret I sent a several programs to CRM; you know live and learn, mostly learn.

BTW - Mr Rosenberg owned Barnum Publishing and produced the Hearld Dispatch a weekly newspaper printed for south west Denver. They also printed programs for Lakeside Speedway and Englewood Speedway.

When I worked at Barnum Publishing helping to produce the weekly newspaper, I found a treasure trove of old programs, photos and other stuff. I didn't give much thought to it then and today I have wondered what happened to all that racing program materials. Barnum Publishing and the Hearld Dispatch no longer extist, it was located at 3rd and Federal, I hear that it was replaced by a second hand clothing store.

It lists also Reed Amblunce, Reed had eventually replaced Haley Ambulance Service. Reed used converted red Ford station wagons at the time. Haley had pastel yellow Superior built Cadillac ambulances.
