Here is picture of Pat Frazier's first number 26 sprint car. 1980.

I helped Pat with the small deatils, and getting it ready for a few race meets too. Pat and I were close friends for 46 years. Sadly Pat passed away in October of 2006. I miss him, he was a true friend.

The first number 16 sprint car.

A few drivers my mind recalls, Sonny Bramlett, Marv Slusser Jr., Dave Strickland Jr.

I agree, it was real clean car that ran real well.

You should have seen the trophy winning model cars the two of us built when we were in the 60's. We built a lot AMT '32 Ford coupes into Lakeside "Stockers". Some of my my favorite builds were Tommy Barton's #9 then #1 red 'A' body car that Jim Malloy drove, I gave that car to Jerry to give to Jim, Jim wasn't there the night I took it to the race track; and Sam's yellow #28, I had to use an AMT '29 Ford roadster body with a modified AMT '32 Ford coupe top to look a model 'A' top; and a yellow #17 '30 Plymouth Opera coupe that ran at Englewood, the one of the guys (Tex?) at (Earl's) Rocky Mountain Auto Supply had something to do with.

I still have an unfinshed Pachello 19, I lost side and end shots and other photos of it. The same for Rick's cut down #6.

I built several Monogram Midgets into table top copies for Ed Jackson 5, Dave Bartlett 15, Warren Hamilton 6, two 93's for Frank Mantello and Ray Koch, Earl Kouba 55, Jack Peachey 1, Tommy Clark 65. I still have a few unbuilt Monogram Midgets. There has been a new generation '32 Ford 5-window coupe put out by Revell and the re-release of of the Monogram '30 Model 'A' Ford coupe, so maybe I'll do some more building.

Hello,
The PF Flyer number 16 sprint car was built by Pat and me in the spring of 1982 and made it’s debut at Joe Krpan's new Raceland Speedway. This was a Joe McCarthy/Ernie DiCroce chassis. Pat laid down the cool candy colors and Jim Billen did his magic with the gold leaf lettering. We won 1st at the Tri-State Auto Show before the season started. I ran this car for the first half of the 82 season at both Raceland and McCook. Randy Roberts became Pat's full time shoe after me and was with Pat and Tom Schaffer, JT'S Concrete, for several seasons.

At speed along with Larry Kassel in the Bill Goebel #77 and Mike Gregg in the Hank & Scott Hersh #27

Pat was a wonderful friend of mine and is resting peacefully with our Lord.

Thomas,

Have you tried talking to Pat's wife, Sharon. I know there were some pictures on Pat's garage wall. I remember seeing the one you are refering to. The #10 white with orange and black numbers.

Good luck, Jeff

I have talked to Sharon, she going to send me what she has photo and article wise

My wife and Sharon grew up together and maintained contact. As a matter of fact we, Pat and Sharon, Violet and myself were a bit of a foursome. We helped Pat and Sharon got together in 1979 after about a 14 year break between the two.

Great,

I would love to see some more of Pat's cars. Including, Sweet 16 that Sonny drove in the early 70's. Give my best to Sharon and the family when you can.

I don't, but I do remember the white #16, 5 window model A, I think Merel Burrow drove it and it was sponserd by Garrison Motors, and the red model A that Sonny Bramlet drove. I will ask my brother in-law, Pat Petrie what he knows about it. Pat is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to the CARC. Check my photo page, I put up a pic of my first car at Lakeside. A pinto on a 32 ford 2 springer frame. I bought this car from Tony Spano in 1975 and went on to win 3 slow dash's and 2 B main events my first year. I still have the trophy for the Sammy Gallo Memorial Day Dash. Pat Petrie won the fast dash and I won the slow. What a ride!!!

Hey Jeff Anderson, how you been? Rick Losh here. Good to see you still have the racin bug. Do you get to talk with Pat Petrie much? How is he doing?

I seem to remember lettering the #16 Pat Fraizer sprinter. Maybe both Jim Billen and I did the car, but the JT's Concrete is for sure my lettering. Anyway, are you retired, or are you still taking green stamps from the truckers?

Rick,

Great to hear from you. Yes you did letter the car along with Jim. You painted the PF Flyer shoe and JT Concrete along with your famous pin striping. I remember the first hot lap day at Raceland, Joe Krpan made a comment to Pat that the car was a PF Flyer for Pat Fraizer. Pat wanted that on the car and Jim was not available so I called you and the rest is history. How about the time you were lettering my Pinto and you said that it should be called Hutch & Starsky for the reverse Starsky & Hutch car, I said yes and it was a hit. The track announcer always refered to it as the Hutch & Starsky #12. My fovorite part of building a car was watching you letter it. Especially the gold leaf on my 3 window Chevy in 1977. Thanks for all of your great work over the years.

Pat & Kathie are doing well in Vegas. I told Pat about the site and he is going to send me pics to add to it. Pat will be happy to hear that you are asking about him. The Petrie boys are racing at the Bullring in Vegas. My son Michael drives the #77 CARC coupe for Theron and Glenda. Michael also has a URSS sprint car #5a.

Thomas, thanks for listing your impressive collection of model race cars. It brought back some great memories as my Dad built several of the model kits that you described. I'll have to purchase some of those new generation Revell and Monogram kits for my grandson to build. I have already given him my Big T and Big Drag model cars that I built when I was his age. ~VB

Thomas, Jeff, Vintage, et all, can you guys tell me if Pat Fraizer at one time or another had a Carl Adams built sprint car? It was very similar to the #16 in that the rear of the cage had an inverted "V" behind the drivers head, as opposed to the "A" in the cage like a Stanton Chassis. I'm referring to the dark and light blue#16 from the other post, the PF car has curved roll cage gusset's where the Stanton, Nance, and others had straight gusset's. I think Ken Heffner ended up with the Adams chassis, can't remember for sure. In Jeff's photo from Raceland, Larry Kassel is in a Stanton Copy that he and Dave Crocker built, I think. Mike Gregg is in a brand new LaVerne Nance built car. Early 80's were interesting times in Denver sprint car racing, always over 30 cars, and several Denver guys built their own cars, Joe McCarthy, Larry Kassel, Bill Goebel, Dave Crocker, probably others I've forgotten. At least that's how I remember it!

I don't want to get too far of topic, but . . .

Revell/Monogram has re-issued the Big Deuce '32 Ford Roadster ($100-$150). There is also a resin casting company that casts a '32 Ford 5-window coupe, that would be a pricey build.

The CARC cars I built in the 60's-70's, there were also a few Englewood cars, these each required a number of kits for the correct finished car.

Kit bashing for a '32 Ford bodied car . . .
1 AMT '32 Ford 5-window coupe, body, frame suspension only
1 AMT '36 Ford 3-window coupe, 5-wide wheels only
2 AMT '40 Ford Coupe, engine, radiator, the 2 roll bars
1 Momogram Midget for nerf bars and other rods

If we needed chrome wheels we used the AMT George Barris '29 Ford pick-up "Ala Kart" which had some nice chrome reversed wheels.

Kit bashing for a '30 "A" body car, all of the above plus . . .
1 Monogram '30 Ford Model "A" coupe.

A more difficult build was Monograms '34 Ford 3-window, much of it had to be scratch-built, but it was worth it.

A '29-'32 Plymouth 3-window opera coupe required a '30 Ford 5-window with modifications to create a flat front window visor and a 3-window top.

Later we able to build AMT's '32 Ford Victoria and '32 Ford Sedan.

A lot of these kits have been re-issued or placed on ebay.

I still love building, it is a great quiet past time. It's like mom's apple pie, midgets and stockers, and Lakeside Speedway.

Mitch, I am not sure about the Adams chassis. I do know that Pat built his own frame one year and I think it was a Gambler copy. Pat and I went our seperate ways after the 1982 season and I moved to Colorado Springs for 13 years before returning to the Denver area in 98. The frame Pat built was behing his shop in Thornton and he was hanging on to it for old times sake. We worked on quarter midgets for a couple of years when Pat and his grandson Tyler raced at IMI. Our plan was to build quarter midget cars but it was only a plan. Both of us had Fiser quarter midgets and it is hard to beat the quality fabrication that Tad Fiser produced, so we stayed with what was working. Pat was a great fabricator and had good equipment in his backyard shop. The last projects he was working on were hot rod replications, a 34 3 window and a 32 roadster. The roadster was on Pat's big fabrication bench the last time I saw it. Pat's real passion was custom painting. He painted every car he had and everyone else who needed paint. What a great man he was. He is truly missed. Jeff

Here's a photo of Pat's last project, his '32 Ford Roadster, that he wasn't able to finish. Pat passed away in October 2006.
