In another great photo from the Roy Jackson collection, it looks like their lining them up for the main event. Lakeside Speedways 1/5th mile paved oval, presented some interesting obstacles for cars of this size. Just about the time you got the engine up in RPM's, it was time to apply the skidders. And when you had 20+ cars on the little track....OHHHHH BROTHER! I can identify three cars from this photo. Clarence Krieger driving the #83, Paul Garrison in the #60 and Bart Manley in the #98. It appears that possibly John Hockmiller is pressed against the wall clear up there in the north turn. This is a cool picture, showing the lights and the north end overlook from which the announcer sat during games when Lakeside was a ballpark.

Wow! What a great photo! It sends chills down my spine as I can still remember how loud Hockmiller's Camero was with those long-extensions on his headers. And with 20+ cars on that little track...that was a lot of iron to keep going in one direction. Welcome back, superstoke, we missed you! ~VB

I second that nomination. Perhaps the best photo ever of the oldest part of this historic track when it was still in good shape.

Thanks for the kind words. Honestly though, Roy Jackson is the guy that deserves the pat on the back. He supplied me with these and all I do is upload and put some words to it. I wish that I had the original shots.

It has been a long summer already, and I have made progress on a lot of projects that I started. Still a lot of work ahead though. I wish I could spend more time uploading pics and stories, but I gotta get these projects finished.

I take a peek at all the stories and photos that you guys put up. You all are doing a great job on this site. It really has flourished. I am sure that Rick Wasilkow is keeping an eye on us. It is great to see Jeff Anderson join us. If he can get Pat Petrie to submit some photos and stories, WOW! Pat really is a walking, talking racing encyclopedia. Well, back to work. Until the next time....Seeeeeeeeya!
