Another great shot from the Roy Jackson collection. According to my 1966 Official Program, this car was owned and driven by John Shelton. I really do not remember this car...but I do remember the Mister Softee Ice Cream trucks......MMMMMMMM!
Behind the #65 modified is the #6 modified which was piloted by Ernie Sandoval and his lovely bride Carmen.
Is that wallpaper that was used for lettering....interesting!

Welcome back Rick, Cool photo. I dig those '32 Chevys. I bet you're right, either wallpaper or remember "contact paper"? They used to use it for lining cupboard shelves.
Glad you're back, thanks for the pics.

I believe that this was also driven by Mike Cropper or Copper, not sure of the name as I was pretty young way back then, but I always loved the Chevy bodied Mods.

Bruce, You're correct it was Mike Cropper. He is the tall fellow on the left in this pic. John Shelton is on the right, I'm sorry I can't indentify the man in the foreground. Mike Cropper also drove the green #17 '32 Ford for Frank Balzano in 1971. That car had been Jim Moore's yellow #93 and had belonged to Bob Land as #99 before that.

Mmmm...I wonder who on this site has a PHD in "Midgetology"? Would that be "Professor Mitchet"?

Olen, I'll second that! Mitch is definately the midget master. Midgetology, right on!
Olen you're the guy who finds all the race track info. Racetrackolgy, Yep,you're the last word in race track history. I thank you for all of your in depth research. Ive learned a lot from you.

Interesting enough, superstroke, Lakeside Speedway is where I originally "stole" the idea to use vinyl wallpaper / shelf-liner to make those wild #98s on the Noud/Wingo/Wendzel 55-Chevy race car. I simply walked next door to the Shamrock gas station on borrowed a #9 and a #8 that they used to post their gasoline prices. With some cheap vinyl in hand, I traced around those # templates, and the rest is history... ~VB

Look out super stroke, you could be replaced by kitchen cabnet liner.

In a round-about way, all the signpainters have been replaced. Vinyl has made my life easier. But I miss pushin a brush on cars and trucks.
Buzz, you did a great job on your fity-five. I thought they were hand painted numbers, with some sort of air brush design.

Rick,
You are always welcome around our 2 cars. As VINTAGE they will always have paint on them. I loved watching you paint the 29 car. What an art. I always admire people who can do what I can't. You made it look so simple and easy to do.
By the way, Roy and Anita Jackson have their 'rod' at the bowling ally on 38th about Newland on Friday nights. Quite a car show for those of you on this end of town.
