With a little help from the late Rick Wasilko:
Larry Carnes in victory lane in 1968 at Pikes Peak Speedway. The flagmen are Art Walsh (L) and Jerry Needham (R). I have a few more photos from Pikes Peak Speedway that I will try to find and send to you. ~ Mike Croley

Larry Carnes' 1974 Nova in 1975 at Pikes Peak Speedway. This car made an incredible sound. I was told that the sound was so unique because the exhaust pipes were paired up, two from one side of the engine with two from the opposite side, like 180 degree headers, except Larrys’ were paired the opposite of 180 degree headers giving it that amazing sound. ~ Mike Croley

Larry Carnes 1975 Pikes Peak Hillclimb car. ~ Mike Croley

Larry Carnes was one of the real inovators in Colorado stock car racing . He was known for the incredible engineering in his cars , all of which he always constructed entirely in his own shop . He owned a speed shop in Colorado Springs and built engines for many of the top running stock cars as well as Pikes Peak Hillclimb and even sprint car engines . Larry sometimes drove an asphalt sprint car . His cars were usually black , and always number 96. ~ Mike Croley

Thanks Rick (R.I.P.) and Mike! ~VB

Thanks for posting this info . I was hoping the posts from the old site weren't going to be wasted , but when they weren't transferred over as we were told they would be i thought they might be gone . Thanks Buzz , i hope you or someone else can re-post all of the Sportsmans Raceway Park , Pikes Peak Speedway , Beacon Hill , and Pikes Peak Hillclimb posts . There are still a lot of people who knew and loved the Southern Colorado tracks and drivers .

Mike,
you can go back yourself and bring anything from the old site and repost. Just search ARM news and pull up images from the old forum and pick through what you want and repost them on this site.

I was hoping to be able to do just that when the old site closed , but the photos vanished within weeks . Or maybe i'm just not competent enough to figure out how to find them .

And i realize there are issues about who owned the CRM photos , and who owns Ricks photos so i don't know if any of the CRM photos can be used here . I wasn't smart enough to save any of them on my computer , but who knew he would fold the site and keep all of our photos .

Mike, if you're trying to get back to the old ARM site click HERE (http://autoracingmemories.com/old/component/option,com_frontpage/Itemid,1/) and see if you can get it.Some times it takes a few seconds to load.~Olen

Thanks Olen . That worked , but i still can't find the photos that went with the posts . The Ronnie McDowell post for instance had a number of photos that don't seem to be there anymore . I'm not especially computer savvy , so if someone will give me step by step directions on how to bring the posts from the old site to this one , i'll give it a shot . I'd hate to see them vanish entirely , and there are probably folks that haven't read much about the southern Colorado tracks .

Mike, you might get a hold of Webby and see if he can do it through his admin control panel, otherwise the only way I know would be, the copy and paste method which in itself would be not an easy process to explain.~Olen

Mike, I have the same problem. I was too dumb to save some of what I sent to the CRM site, so now just waiting to re-visit some of those I interviewed to get their photos again. Retiring to northern Colo. doesn't make it any easier, but eventually I'll find a way. I don't have a problem with re-using photos that were sent me by other contributors though, several of us did some trading back an forth for our own personal files, and it seems that they would be fair game to post again. And I've been doing just that. If we stick it out, eventually many of those good old photos will pop up again.

Hey, Mike! Great to see you back with us. Webby has put all the old ARM site photos here for us: Click here for Old ARM Photos (http://autoracingmemories.com/old/images/fbfiles/images/)
Rick Wasilko (R.I.P.) had his own photo numbering scheme; so, you may have to open photos to follow his methods. Once open, just save them to a folder on you computer and then upload them to this new ARM site with your articles. ~VB
