Here are a series of photos from the Lee Dalton collection. Lee was only 5 years old when his Father, Elmer (Tex) Dalton was racing at Colorados Englewood, Lakeside and Pueblos Beacon Hill Speedways.

The first photo shows Lees Dad Tex, (the car that is facing you) tangled up with the #11 modified at Ewood. Jerry Lee, and any of the rest of you Ewood experts, Please help in identifying Elmers car number and when he raced at Ewood or Lakeside Speedways, if you can. Any other pictures would be a great help for Lee. This is the only picture that he has of his Fathers modified and he cannot even see the number. His Mother thinks it was #29.

In the next photos, these were all cars belonging to and driven by Walt McLin. These were some great looking cars and according to Lees Mom, were as fast as they were good looking. The 62 car was sponsored by Samsonite Luggage Co., and the picture of the two cars parked in front of the building was taken at the Samsonite headquarters. Elmer (Tex) Dalton is sitting on the tire of the #62 car. Walt stands to the right of him. Lee is not sure who the other car belonged to, but probably was a team car. The Toro sponsored #00 was also Walts car and was a beauty as well.

Again, any help in identifying or adding pictures to this thread would be a great help to Lee. The years to look for this information would be 1954-1959. Some of these photos were stamped with the Ted Ostrander Photographer stamp.

The last photo above is a mystery, but it looks like the driver of the #6 car did not have a good night.

The pic in front of the Samsonite building is priceless! I love the leather jackets, it almost looks like a modern day picture made to look "old school". But that's the real deal!

Well that certainly looks like Bob Robinson standing in the middle of photo two, and sitting on the nerf in photo four, so I checked with Jerry Lee's Englewood retrospective book. Sure enough, '56 program lists both Walt McLin and Bob Robinson as drivers of the #62. Couldn't come up with anything for the #00, but the #6 probably Ray Dean according to the programs from '56 and '59. I have a soft spot for '32 3 window coupes and that one doesn't look like it's going to come back. JL may have more info. BP

Check out the 1958 Englewood Speedway program that Buzz posted. There's an Elmer Dalton listed as #20, and on the Point Standings page in the same program the #00 is listed as Jerry McLin in 10th place. These are some cool pics.

Does anyone know if the Daltons have a daughter or grand daughter by the name of Heather?
