Just recieved my copy of the reprinted issues of Throttle magazine. (Birthday present from my wife) It's a hardbound compilation of all twelve issues (Jan - Dec 1941) of that pre-war magazine, a motorsports publication that even preceded HOT ROD & Speed Age. Too bad this magazine was interrupted by the war, it appeared to be pretty timely with stories on lakes racing, midgets, Sprints, Indy and even street driven cars including customs. The term "Hot Rod" wasn't even coined yet. A decent amount of midget racing coverage, and of special interest is a small piece with photo of Colorado's Judd Pickup when he began racing in California. Mostly west coast coverage, it's a quality book printed on slick paper, and includes all the old speed equipment adds. How about that cover price, just 10 cents. The December issue went up to a wopping 25 cents, then, Pearl Harbor! A fun side trip down memory lane. This isn't a commercial, just thought others might be interested. Available from The Rodder's Journal magazine at www.roddersjournal.com.
