Here's a picture of Audrey Bolyard accepting a trophy in the late 1950's - my note says 1958, but Parrott may be able to fill in the year. Audrey was an awesome Powder Puff driver who won several championships with the CARC division almost from its inception to the late 60's. I hear she was a rough-n-tumble lady, but one hell of a race driver. She came from Garden City, Kansas and was the lot manager at Navajo (I think) Trucking. Ronnie Lee told me that she could swear worse than anybody he had ever heard - "and I was in the NAVY!". But we must recognize the talent she had behind the wheel. I daresay she'd be competitive with the Club today if she was around. I believe she is no longer with us. A super memory!

Pardon me Paul, Forgive me for correcting you, but Audrey Bolyard was actually from Bird City, Kansas. Her father Clyde had a auto repair garage in Bird City for many years. The Clyde Bolyard garage building was finally torn down a few years ago. Peggy's parents lived in Bird City for years and we still have many friends down there. And yes, Audrey could drive the wheels off a car. She's still remembered in Bird City.

I am humbled and corrected. Bird City is right. Thanks for the correction.

It's not listed in my program, but believe you are correct Paul, my notes say it's from 1958. She was actually listed in the Powderpuff section as the driver of #152. I always had the idea that was her own car. There were 19 powderpuffers listed that year, not bad! Notice that there is another car facing the #45. If memory serves, didn't they award both fast time and the race winner at the same time?

Yes, they awarded both Powder Puff quick time and heat winner at the same time as long as I went to Lakeside. I noticed the front nerfer of the other car, too, and figured it had to be one or the other. Don't know why it's pointed the wrong way, but stranger things have happened there! :callme:

Hi, Clyde! Welcome to ARM! I have several pictures of Audrey, and I'll check my programs for any write-ups about her. She was an awesome Powder Puffer and probably could have run with the guys. She was PP champ several (5 or 6) times at Lakeside. I ran into a Bolyard at the Kaiser Permanente clinic at 114th and Huron, and she said her husband's family was from Bird City. Let me dig around and see what I can find.

Hi Clyde,
Did you get the Private Messages I sent you with your family 'tree'?
I called my family in Bird City to make sure I was correct.
If you need more, please let me know.
Miss Peggy
