My name is Bob Cassity, I am a drag racer at heart, although I don't do much of it any more. I love the Willy's, Anglia's, Henry J's. Heck come to think of it I like just about all hotrods, old or new! I have had a couple of the Henry J's, a 48 Anglia and a couple 55 chevy's and a bunch of early Camaro's, two 41 Willy's pick ups, one which I am in the process of building now. It is a pro street with tube chassis, and a blown 540, 5-speed. You can see pic's of it at Hubgarage.com my garage name is thewillysdude.

Great line of pics of Willybad, Bob. It sure looks like a lot of work, but I'm sure it's worth it. I hope you can post some of those for all to see.~Olen :racing:

Hey, Bob! Welcome to the ARM community. The photos of your current Willys pickup project are pretty cool. Thanks for sharing with us. ~VB
And, any friend of Jack Hahn is a friend of mine! To see Jack's '55 Chevy circle-burner, CLICK HERE (http://autoracingmemories.com/forums/showthread.php?t=357).
Speaking of cool gassers, did Jack Hahn every introduce you to the Soda Pop Gang: Bernard Conway & Johnny Woodhouse who campaigned their C-Gas '55-Chevy for a few years out of Bernard's soda pop bottling company located on Lincolnway & Converse Avenue in Cheyenne? The last I heard, their gasser was in Rock Springs, WY now:
"By Hank Iden: I bought Bernard Conway's 1955 chevy "SODA POP GANG" drag car from him in 1976. I am currently updating car. I still have the original blown and injected small block chevy with hydromatic transmission. I would love to have some original pictures of the car. I have repainted it twice once in 86' and again in late 2008' and updated its chassis. When I bought this car it had only 39,000 actual miles on it."

Hi Bob, I'm glad you found this site. I dig gassers too, I'm glad to see they're making a comeback. Way back in the good old days, when I was in high school, you used to see some cars that guys installed truck front ends on. A lot of guys would put tall springs in front or a load of spring spacers to get the front end up in the air. It was a fun time when you could be creative as your imagination would allow. I remember one guy, and I don't if this would be considered a gasser, that I went to school with that had a VW micro bus with Chrysler hemi in the back with a torqueflight hooked to a one ton dual wheel rear end. You could tell were he went by the 4 rubber marks at intersections. I also had a buddy who had a '56 Chevy 210 wagon with a dual quad 409. He dumped the clutch one time and split the tranny case wide open and he picked gear teeth out of the street. I had a '51 Ford Vic with an Olds under the hood. Like I said it was a great time. Enjoy this site, looking forward to your posts.

Thanks for the compliments on my Willy's! I don't remember Jack ever telling me about the Soda Pop Gang. He may have but that has been nearly 25 years ago, man time flies by! When I was about to get out of the Air Force I bout a live axle Halibrand quick change rear end with 2-piece wheel and knock offs. He sold it all to me for something like $300.00! It came with like 8 gear sets also. He also through in a big huge box of racing tubes and a Offenhauser manifold with 6 stromberg 97 carbs. with linkage! He was getting ready to move to Jackson hole and he just had to much stuff to take so he basically gave the stuff to me. My only regret is that I was hurting for money at the time after I got out of the A.F. and I had to sell the stuff. I do know where the rear end is still though, I have recently thought about trying to get it back!
