Sorry to hear this. Jim really was a pioneer in the Figure 8 field. Jim had that A-1 Guaranteed Washer & Dryer for many years which I remember was painted on most of his Figure Eighters. In the late '60's my Mom's dryer caught fire and it was none other than Jim that showed up at our house to take it away. Man, Jim was a big guy! He just lifted it up and carried it out like it was nothing. Another overheard story is that some guys were having trouble getting an engine block into the back of a pick-up truck until Jim came along. He just picked it up and set in the bed like it was a baby.

R.I.P. Jim Coffey and thanks for the memories.

Rest in peace Jim,
You were one of the good guys. You've gotten the checkered flag your race is over and now you can rest.

This is his Grandson Jason,

Thanks for posting the thread.

Please get the word out to anybody you thought might know my grandpa, we would love to have all that want to come to the funeral show up in their rods.

Currently the funeral is being planned for Monday 02/07/2010. I will keep you all informed of when and where it is. My mom (Patricia) and aunt (sandy) are working on the details as we speak.

My grandfather wanted to be buried next to his mother and the plot is at mnt olive cemetary on 44th and ward. We are likely going to have the ceremony on the southern end of town and I will keep this forum up to date.

I remember taking a ride with Jim in his 1917 Dodge when I was a kid. And the last time I saw him was 2007 at a car show up in Evergreen with the same car. :) RIP Jim!
