I finally found a photo from the track and year where and when I first got involved in racing selling NSSN in the grandstands. From the Jeffersonville (Ind.) Sportsdrome in 1949. Time sure flies when you're having fun...

That's a great shot John, that's the way a lot of people got there start in the racing business. Some have went on to be great race drivers, and some of us just have great memories. And yes, time does go by too fast, especially when you get our age.~Olen

Hey John that's great pic, I love those Jalopies! What do you remember most about the Sportsdrome?

Well, Webby, I guess that it was just a neat place. Of course, it was the first track I ever visited and I was hooked. A flat quarter-mile, built in 1947 and ran midgets the first couple of years before the hardtops came in. I was there every race night from 1949 until I went into the service in June of 1956. Went back in 1960, but then got involved in building the Fairgrounds Motor Speedway in Louisville. I guess what I remember best is that it was the track where I first started making friends in racing, some of whom are still around. The track is still also operating today.
Oh yeah, in her later years, my mother used to tell people that they took me to the race track when I was ten years old and I never really came home.

That is a neat shot Big John. Love those Jalopies! That #50 has his front wheel pretty well planted behind the front wheel of the other car and those weeds in the infield look pretty gnarly!
