My dad, Pete Purcell, drove a midget for Pop Collins out of Akron, OH back in the 1950s. The car they raced was somewhat notorious for using an Evinrude outboard engine. In the late 60s or early 70s, just after Pop passed away, the Indianapolis 500 museum requested the car, rebuilt it, and put it on display. I'm not sure if it's on display now or if it's in storage there.
I'm trying to collect as much info about my dad's racing years and that car (which sat in the back yard and hosted hornet's nests when I was a kid!).
Thank you in advance for any info you can share. Please fee free to call at 303-681-1504.
