This is a shot of Rick Carelli, driving the Chesrown Chevrolet owned Southwest Tour car. This was 1992, and Carelli would go on to win the Southwest Tour championship. In this photo, Rick Losh (far left) drops one of two tires as Rob White (in back of tire) removes the lugs. Ron Briscoe (center left) jacks the car while Joe Garrone (on his knees, right) makes an adjustment. Ron Granieri loads the car with gas, and Dave Finley catches the fuel overflow. Behind Carelli in the yellow car is Ron Hornaday. To the left, getting the jump is Bill Sedgewick driving the Spears #75 car. Mesa Marin, located in Bakersfield CA, was a great place to race.

Those Chesrown cars were always memorable for how beautiful they looked. Carelli was and always will be one of my favorite drivers ever. It's too bad that he didn't get the oppotunity to drive for someone like Earnhardt or Childress like Hornaday did.

Your correct about not getting a ride like Hornaday, but remember Hornaday is a Jr. his Daddy (Hornaday Sr.)I ran against in the 50s and he helped pave the wqy for Jr. ITS CALLED pr OF COURSE, and you or your Daddy (If he is a racer) have to be in the right circuit at the right time. (Or have an in with the right(rich) sponser.
