Greetings.
I've been around racing of one form or another since the 70s. I recently acquired a mostly complete 70s vintage sprint car of unknown manufacture (that era isn't my strong suit) so I'll be looking for help to identify it. (integral cage that's chrome plated, not down tube, torsion bar, Chevy motor plate, unknown in/out box, Schroeder manual steering box without a Q/R, mongrel rear end made from Halibrand and CAE, not a single name or inspection sticker on it that I can find)
Anyway, thanks, ttyl. -Rich |
Re: Greetings.
RichVS, my old Sprint Car is pre caged sprint. Has a bolt on cage. It is supposed to have been built for Bruce Walkup. It has some Ascot history but I haven't found any - yet. It may have some Stockton, CA history also, but I don't know. It has South Union Body Works on the hood and is white with orange and gold leaf 80 on the tail. Its last outing was at Calistoga about 1977 where it did a 3 1/2. I have the residue of that excitement. At Calistoga it was 80 with a duct tape X.
