Re: C. A. R. C. Modifieds - 1950's

The #45, with the Coors sponsor, if memory serves me right, would be mid 1950's and the driver is probably Keith Lane. Someone correct it if I'm not right.

Re: 1986 Hot Lap Day, Lakeside Speedway

Mod coupe #14 was owned by Jay Saxton Sr. and driven by his son, Jay Jr. They probably still have that car!

Re: Englewood Super Modifieds - 1977

The car was bought from Gene Palmer, and I believe he ran the car in 1977, at least in previous years as the yellow #68. I think the car was known as the "Yellow Banana" or some such name. I only...

Re: Englewood Super Modifieds - 1977

The #8 is, indeed Bob Land, but the year for that pic is 1978!

Re: Lakeside Compacts/Late Models

I remember going to some of those Friday nite Late Model races at Lakeside. Why they didn't last, I don't recall. Possibily due to the popularity of the Sunday nite Modified Stock Car races. But, I...

My sympathies to Gene, Charlie and the whole Palmer family.I got to know the Palmer brothers from racing with them at Lakeside, Great guys and those Hudsons were awesome! Sometimes, I would see Don...

Talking Re: White Pants

Agree with the whites, but you wouldn't get a track owner/promoter to issue that edict. Would be to much revenue lost. Used to be, the pits were for the business of running a race, not for visiting....

Re: Sterling Colorado and Casper Wyoming

Parrot,

In your research, see if you can find anything about a driver by the name of Ed Ruff. He drove a #99 out of Sterling and was practically unbeatable on dirt. I remember a race in 1957 or...

Re: Paul's Model Racing Cars

Yes, there was both a 5-window and a 3-window, white coupe, in the 60's owned by Tommy Pryor and driven by Bob Harrington at Lakeside as well as the other tracks in Colorado. The candy stripe #3 was...

Re: BOB LAND - The Two Minute Interview

I have a lot of those photos. I need to learn how to scan them and post them. Maybe my daughter-in-law will educate me.

Re: BOB LAND - The Two Minute Interview

Chris, how do you remember all that information? You remember more about the history of my cars than I do!!! Don't remember how many "Mains" I may have won in that Falcon. Probably not many, but a...

Re: Vintage Racing Events at Colorado National Speedway!

Agree with the "no-wings for coupes" sentiment! If I ruled the World, there'd be no wings on any open-wheeled racecars except super-modifieds. I've done it both ways. Somewhat different, but you...

Re: JIM BECKLEY - The Two Minute Interview

Chris, no apology necessary. I sure didn't take your comments as an insult. You're right about racing at SCR. Practically impossible to pass unless it was on the inside and the guy ahead opened the...

Re: JIM BECKLEY - The Two Minute Interview

I remember that incident quite well! Of course, my perspective of what happened on the track differs somewhat from Chris' view. But, yeah, Jim always has been a great guy and a gentleman. One of my...

Re: CARC Craig Road Spwy Las Vegas Trip 1983

I remember this trip to Las Vegas quite well! As Bruce stated. it was very cold, probably as cold as it was that whole winter, and, had snowed. Had a difficult time to even get the car loaded on the...

Re: The Golden Chariot and Ed Mailo

Mike Barney bought the successor to the "Chariot" along with the '34 Victoria body, from Pat Van Dyke, in the late 60's. I think Mike still has all that stuff.
