Re: 1/4 Midget on ebay

Granted $10,000 is a ton of money. However, having seen some of his work first hand it's probably worth it. That is, to someone who has that kind of money. (Not me, and probably not a lot of us). His...

Re: Unique Custom Wooden Car

There was a guy who came to Tampa a few years ago for the Southeast Street Rod Nationals with a '29 Ford roadster made out of wood. Real cool! I'll see if I've got any pics. Pretty neat stuff.

Re: Living Tribute To George Oaks

That is one of the most awesome things I've seen on any forum. I wish I had the pictures and videos to do my time in racing! My hat is off to you and your father!!!!

Re: Slinger Speedway, Dirt in the Sixties

It's always fun to see these old pics! Definitely contact Pat Heaney for old pics. By the way, that is not Willie Sieske driving in the checkered flag pic. That would be me, Rett Rundell. I wrecked...

Re: Nutley board track

And I thought I was doing something when I ran the last two laps of a race with my seat belts unhooked in a 56 Chevy at Hales Corners in Milwaukee!!! These guys were FEARLESS!!! Or "not so smart?"

Re: The Corvair Late Model

I remember Fuzzy's purple machine very well! That thing flew. In those days it was Fuzzy, Mouse, Gaeden, Wagner and a few others that were the big dogs. I was running Sportsman cars during that same...

Re: Hales Corners Speedway, Hales Corners WI

Didn't know any of them personally. Raced against Ron a lot in the early 70's, he could really haul that brown and black 57 Chevy around! Anyone who was ever around racing in the Milwaukee area knows...

Thanks for the pics. It brings back a lot of good memories. Rick Tackman had sent me some too. Wish I could make it back for one of the reunions, maybe someday. Rett

Re: Hales Corners Speedway, Hales Corners WI

Yea, that would be the guy. He was some sort of smooth.I used to like watching him qualify when he'd come drifting of turn two onto the back stretch. I didn't get along very well with him for a long...

Re: Hales Corners Speedway, Hales Corners WI

I ended up totalling that car about 3 wks before the end of the season. Was running 3rd or 4th at that time. I missed 3 nights of racing while I switched back into the old 62 car. I worked and only...

Second picture is Lee(or Keith Sonns) I can never remember which and Bernie Binon "the Rubber Ducky". Everyone thought Bernie and I might be racing for the Championship that year and we did give a...

Re: dirtman

Demo is how I started....Crazy Jims in '65 & '66. Didn't do so great. Started roundy round in '66 with a '56 Chevy #60 that couldn't get out of its own way. Sure am glad I improved after that. Jimmy...

Re: dirtman

Yea, that would have been me! Also, in the sportsman pictures Slim posted, that is me with a checker at Slinger, driving Bill Sieske's '57 Chevy when my car was out of commission one night. Love...

Re: White Pants

My wife used to wash 16 pairs of white pants a week in the 70's around Milwaukee! Myself, her, and two kids. They couldn't get into the pits, thankfully, in those days. But we tried to class up the...

Re: thrill shows

Ya, I remember! That was my first taste of cars! Grew up on farm in Wisconsin and Jimmy Lynch and his Death Drivers used to come to the fairgrounds. That was in the late 40's or early 50's. I knew I...

Re: Miles "The Mouse" Melius

I was in Europe in '62, so I guess I missed that one! I think the one at Hales Corners landed on a truck, no sure. Hard to believe how hard it must have hit to bend that frame that way!

Hey slim. Allow me to introduce myself to you. I raced a lot with Tim and Roger Plautz. Got some real good stories too, probably too long to post here. I started in '66 and that's when I met them. We...
