Re: 1980's California Racing Association

Here are the cars I was thinking of, Mitch. This is from 1982 with the Super K #391 in front of the Dean Thompson's #1, both built by the Bromme's. Prior to downtubes. I sure like the looks of these...

Re: 1980's California Racing Association

You're right, Mitch. The IndianOpenWheel photo does look more like one of the Gardner-built cars from that time frame. It seems to me when Joe Kasparoff first got in to sprint cars (Early 80's), they...

Re: Missing Leonard Surdam Chevy sprint car

I've seen this photo of Gary Ponzini before, but never thought about this being the design for the CRA decal. Very cool! Here is a photo of Leonard Surdam's #4 with Bruce Walkup behind the wheel....

Re: November 1961 - USAC National Championship Cars

If you look close in this photo, right in the middle, you'll see the yellow #19 car that Al Keller drove on this fateful day. He is shown next to the left front tire just after climbing out the car...

Re: 1980's California Racing Association

They beat me to it, Eddie Wirth! The Super K cars were built by the Bromme's, if I remember correctly. Jerry can correct me if I'm wrong. They always looked sensational:)

Here's Eddie in his own...

That was the problem. I re-sized this one. Taken in 1971 with Bill Gadda in front of future Indy 500 driver Steve Chassey at the California Midwinter Fair in Imperial.

Tried that in Firefox, still shows "upload of file failed". Not sure why all of a sudden it won't allow. I haven't changed any settings. I'll keep trying:)

Re: 1970's CRA Fair races in Imperial (also known as the El Centro races)

Merry Christmas, Jerry! Yes, the 3/8 mile track is still there, although there has been no racing in over a year. Seems the Fair management is not too interested in racing. What a shame! The north...

Re: 1970's CRA Fair races in Imperial (also known as the El Centro races)

Thanks for filling in the blanks on the #90, Jerry! I knew it was the Williamson Offy, but didn't know further. Didn't Curt Waters work for CAE, perhaps owning the company at one point? I'm just...

Re: 1970's CRA Fair races in Imperial (also known as the El Centro races)

Here is another photo that I believe was taken by Lon Hettinger. This one shows Jerry McClung on the outside of Curt Waters at the March 8, 1970 California Midwinter Fair in Imperial.

Re: 1970's CRA Fair races in Imperial (also known as the El Centro races)
