Remembering Bill Meiklejohn who raced at CNS in the 60's, Bill's car was blue with silver trim, a '57 Chevy, number 13. Bill was very affable, a good driver and car owner. Bill lost his battle with cancer on February 14th, 2012. ![]() "Stay tuned for the greatest spectacle in racing" ~ Sid Collins LAKESIDE - Late at night by the old Lakeside Speedway, you can hear the ghosts - The barking, crackling "Flathead Fords", the zinging "Chevy Stove Bolt's", The rumbling of the "KK-Offy's", and the snarling "Ford V8-60's". Listen and faintly hear the announcer say, "Ladies and gentlemen, the line up for the trophy dash," and the place would erupt with the mix echoes of cheers and boo's...Remember...

I am sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Although I did not know him well, Jim Brown and I used to see him at one of our watering holes. He was just like Thomas mentioned...always with a big smile and a HOW-DO-YOU-DO attitude. Soft spoken and genuine.

Our sympathies to Bill's family. I didn't know Bill, but I watched him race. The racing community has lost too many members recently. Rest in peace Bill.

Here is a photo of Bill Meiklejohn accepting some hardware at Colorado National Speedway. This photo came from the pages of a 1967 Cavalcade of Auto Racing magazine that Rex Skaggs let me use. Rex is the owner of AAI Speed Equipment, which used to belong to the late great Ernie DiCroce. Thanks Rex.
