Stock Cars Stock cars have come a long way since the days of the old jalopy but many race fans will tell you the vintage stock cars put on some of the best fender banging action of all-time. |

Man, you know that I love those '55 Chevys in full-race dress. ~VB
"Car 54 where are you?" Anyone remember Officers Toody and Muldoon? ![]() The series follows the adventures of NYPD officers Gunther Toody (Joe E. Ross) and Francis Muldoon (Fred Gwynne) in the fictional 53rd precinct in The Bronx, assigned to Patrol Car 54. Toody was short, stocky, nosy, not very bright, and lived with his loud, domineering wife Lucille. Muldoon, an Irish American, was very tall, quiet, and more intelligent. He was a shy bachelor who lived with his mother and two younger sisters. |

Ahhh, who could forget Joe E. "Ooh-Ooh" Ross (also on Sgt. Bilko) and Fred Gwynne (also Herman Munster) in that great old Car 54 show?? You can still catch it late at night on one of the stations around here.
And in keeping with the title of this thread Buzz, here is a collection of '55's "in full-race dress" that I've featured in other threads. (But never before assembled in one great thread!) Please add to it as you will..... Fritz Wilson Don Wilson (in Bart Manley's #97) & John 'Crash' Mullins Eddie Floyd Anthony Martinez George Oaks Lucky Beickman Pete Brandenburg |

Thanks everyone!
![]() I enjoyed your "Car 54 where are you?" comments and quotes. Whew, I was hoping that someone besides me would remember that show and the actors. And please keep those '55 Chevy photos coming. It is great to see them all in one place now. Back in the late '60s/early '70s, Stan and Gerry Schilling (Ft. Collins, CO) were regulars at Intermountain Speedway in Cheyenne, WY. Gerry drove the #4 '55 Chevy hardtop and Stan drove his #92 '54 Olds hardtop. Both cars were top notch and very fast. ~VB http://autoracingmemories.com/forums...pictureid=2423 |

Remember back in the 60's and 70's when you could buy a complete 55 out
of the junk yards for $50.00 |
