Stock Cars Stock cars have come a long way since the days of the old jalopy but many race fans will tell you the vintage stock cars put on some of the best fender banging action of all-time. |

Could someone tell me about Darrell's career? In the 65-65 we were friends. I grew up in Thornton around the corner from his hous and was part of his un-official "pit crew" of his baby blue 57 Ford "45" he drove at Erie. I lost track of him when I was sent to Vietnam. Thanks - Chuck Provow

I knew Darrell briefly in the late 1990's when he raced a beautiful mod coupe with the CARC at Second Creek Raceway. He was also president of the club and a really good guy, too.
He had a body shop and did great work! He recently passed away. |

I really liked Darrell, he was always really cool to me. A great guy to talk to!
Here's just a few pics I've ran across from his long career..... (Jay Newton collection) Darrell Stingerie with the Garrison Tenneco Figure 8 from 1964. (Darrell Stingerie coll./Courtesy of Bruce Rhoades) Darrell's Pizza Roma Late Model from the late '60's. (John Verhoeff photo) Darrell's cool Mustang from 1975 at Englewood Speedway. (Photo by Jerry Lee McGuire) Darrell had this Legend car out at Second Creek Raceway in 1996. R.I.P. Darrell.... Last edited by Jerry Lee; 02-03-2013 at 09:13 PM. |

Thanks for the photos of Darrell. He was a good friend. He snuck me into the back of his 57 Ford and did a few hot laps at Erie. Of course this was in the late 60's. I was thrilled! It was just before he married Carroll. Once I was sent to Vietnam, everything changed for me. It took a long time for me to find myself again. So I missed finding him, until it was too late. Thanks again for the photos. - Chuck
