Scott, welcome to the site, your pictures are terrific, all old stuff is much appreciated. Traffic on all the racing web sites is down, due to Facebook taking the wind out of all the other web sites sails. I'm a Colorado native, now living in Florida, my personal memories are Denver related. I'm a huge open wheel fan, and spend most of my spare time researching the golden era ( 1946 to 1970 or so) of open wheel racing. All members here have their personal favorite types of cars, and years, so some posts get more attention than others. Sadly the Facebook monster seems to have gobbled up most web viewers.

I think that's one of the few, if only 55', 56' T-birds I've ever seen turned into a late model stock car!

Hey Scott.........Thank you for the pictures. They are just right. Unfortunately Facebook has taken most of the traffic from this type of racing site but some of us still truly enjoy the special sites.

It is a '57 front with a 55 rear. He got two T-Birds from the junkyard. One was hit in the front and the other was hit in the rear and combined the two good sections. He raced it for two years in Late model at Coweta and Senoia and won so much, Senoia banned the car claiming it was a sports car since it was only a two seater from the factory. There was nothing in the rules at that defined what a sport car was. The next car was a 65 Mustang fastback which really wasn't much bigger than the bird, but technically it had 4 seats, so according to the new rules, was deemed legal.

Here is link to that car as it was built. This was raced in the 1967/68 seasons.

Wow, a 55'-57' Bird, what a neat race car, too bad you don't get to see guys building cars like that to race now-a-days. Great interpretation of the rule book, usually leads to getting banned!!
