ENGLEWOOD SPEEDWAY – The Figure 8 Revolution

"Tak's Toy" was a German Ford Taunus. It resembled a miniature '40 Ford tudor sedan. If I remember correctly it ran C/A and would pull the front wheels with every shift. It was bright orange. Tak bulit the engine in our #29.

Happy to see these Al Beeson pics! I have a few mid-'60's Figure 8 listings where Al is listed as owner of #86, #186, & #286. But he always seemed to sport the #286 when he drove.

Jerry Lee, Man those were fun days. I'm glad I got a chance to hang out with a lot of those guys. I forget how old I am when I look at pictures like these. What's that old Cher song? "If I could Turn back time." I can still remember you and James Holmes and a couple of other kids selling programs in the pit before the races.

Chris: I am Jeff Urquhart son of "Sonny"-Leonard Urquhart, he passed away this year and I am looking to see if there is any pics of him when he was young in any of the pics you have access to? I also would love to find pics of Chucks cars painted by Sharon Mercer my aunt? the Charlie brown/Snoopy. I do remember you and the respect my father had for you. as a adult I was able to put a car on Lakeside and a short stent at Colorado national, selling my car to Tim Mercer witch he ran for a few years. I hope all Is well with you and its great finding a Sr member of Colorado's racing community as you here. Thank you for any help
