Default Richard "Dick" Gastineau passes away

The family of Richard Gastineau announced yesterday of his passing after a long illness. Richard was a longtime Englewood figue 8 racer who went on to race at CNS as well. His sons also carried on the family tradition of figure 8 racing. Here is a picture that his son Ted had posted on facebook

Man, I'm sorry to hear about this news. Watched Dick race for many, many years. My thoughts and prayers out to all you Gastineau boys and the family.

Here's a shot of Dick I took out at Englewood back in '77. I later had him autograph it when he did some radiator work on one of my cars.

We are very saddened by this news. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gastineau family at this very difficult time.

thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Family at this time,Dick was one of my 1st sponsors in my rookie year and i'll never forget that,i remember the 1st time i took a radiator to him and he looked at it and told me he could fix it,he said it would cost me about 50.00 dollars i told him ok and he told me to come back in couple of days, i called him and he said come and get your radiator its done, when i got there i got my wallet out and went to hand him the money and he told me i dont want the money just put my name on your car,i told him no problem thanks!! he told me your not getting out that easy, go to the liqour store and get us a 12 pack of miller genuine draft, and i did----from that moment on we became good friends, i even worked for him occasionally(just to pay off my radiator bills)Dick i'll never forget ya,you left a strong impression on me and my family a very stern man but a heart of in paradise Boss, tell Big Jim we said hey....Al & Vicky Duran
