1972, and Johnny Rutherford failed to make the field for the annual "Hoosier Hundred" at the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds dirt 1 mile oval. Looks like a older model Ward/Watson chassis Offy power with a bolt on cage, as roll cages became mandatory on Dirt Champ cars in USAC for 1972. Lone Star would go on to greater success, winning 3 Indy 500's.

I was talking to John once and the question came up about what was his favorite race track. He looked me squarely in the eye and said "the first turn at Indy and any well prepared dirt mile" You can't help but like a guy that thinks like that!
