![]() And now "The rest of the story . . . " ![]() "Stay tuned for the greatest spectacle in racing" ~ Sid Collins LAKESIDE - Late at night by the old Lakeside Speedway, you can hear the ghosts - The barking, crackling "Flathead Fords", the zinging "Chevy Stove Bolt's", The rumbling of the "KK-Offy's", and the snarling "Ford V8-60's". Listen and faintly hear the announcer say, "Ladies and gentlemen, the line up for the trophy dash," and the place would erupt with the mix echoes of cheers and boo's...Remember... ![]() Last edited by Thomas E; 06-19-2010 at 08:00 AM. That's a great post Thomas (as usual). I had no idea they ever ran Figure 8's at Lakeside.

I'm glad this story resurfaced again Thomas! I remember it from the old site.
I've got a Roy Jackson interview down the line where he talks about running the 8's at Lakeside. That sure would have been fun to see.....without all that stifling dust! |

That will be a fun interview . . . I still cannot imagine there are no photos of the F-8's at Lakeside. I thought Duncan and Duncan (Scotty Duncan) was the photographer at that time. Maybe there is a black hole above Lakeside Speedway. ![]() "Stay tuned for the greatest spectacle in racing" ~ Sid Collins LAKESIDE - Late at night by the old Lakeside Speedway, you can hear the ghosts - The barking, crackling "Flathead Fords", the zinging "Chevy Stove Bolt's", The rumbling of the "KK-Offy's", and the snarling "Ford V8-60's".
