Lloyd Flint and his wife Charlotte were exceptionally great and gracious people. I loved and respected them both ever since I first met them as an older teenager.
During the day, both worked hand-n-hand turnin wrenches at Flint's Auto Repair located on the South Greeley Hiway in Cheyenne. At nights, Lloyd worked at the U.P.R.R. in their freight office and Charlotte attended to their home and the children. Lloyd was a key member and supporter of the Wyoming Auto Racing Club, most noticeable as an outstanding and fair tech-director. He built and maintained many of the Ford coupes that raced at Intermountain Speedway for drivers like Bill Jones (Cheyenne), Andy Anderson (Cheyenne), Leon Moore (Casper, WY), and Dennis Duval (Greeley, CO). Lloyd and Charlotte would often throw Cederburg/Noud/Wendzel the keys to their auto-shop so that we could burn some midnight oil working and our #84 '55 Chevy roundy-pounder. Lloyd was a great mentor as he spend endless hours teaching me how to set up our dual-point distributor on his Sun machine. He wouldn't let me give up until I mastered that skill. R.I.P. Lloyd and Charlotte. We will all miss you greatly. ~VB |
