Thanks Carol. Pretty sure that was in 1962 which is about what I was guessing. Have never figured out those other numbers on Duncan photos. Have a lot of them, but have never figured out what the first two numbers mean. I just go by the final number which is the year. Guessing the first two are something to do with the race meet and photo sequence that he took that night. Anyone out there know how Scotty labeled his photos?

Bill and Carol, those numbers on the back of the pics could be the way the military used to record dates. So 13-7-62 could be 13th day, 7th month and 1962 for the year. Therefore the pic was taken on July 13,1962. I just remember a lot of confusion over that in the Air Force.~Olen

Hi Carol,

July 13, 62 would have been a Friday. No I don't remember but I did Google it.

Not sure why a Fri night program because the holiday would have been a week earlier.

Sad to report, but according to the Denver Post, it appears that Mr Oaks has passed away, age 84. Perhaps best known for his number Zero, mostly at Englwood, then a few years at Lakeside Speedway where I believe that he was the only one to run that number. Fond memories.

I'm so sorry to hear this news. George's daughter-in-law Carol Oaks put together a very cool video "A Living Tribute to George Oaks" which you can check out in the Stock Cars Forum here on ARM. R.I.P Mr. Oaks, thanks for the memories.

Here's the tribute that Jerry mentioned above. Carol did a great job on this, so to make easier to find I'll repost it here.
