From "Open Wheel Magazine" June 1982, great Dennis Torres photo of Gene Gennetten in his car at Terre Haute, IN, this car had a Stanton midget hood on it in this photo.

The graphic for a feature article about Gene, again "Open Wheel Magazine, June of 1983

From the official 1985 SWIMS (South West Independent Midget Series) program.
Between 1981 and 1984 Gene had won 2 of the SWIMS titles, and out of 31 main events, Gene had won 10 (there were 2 more SWIMS tours, 1985 and 86 I don't have stats on those tours) Johnny Parsons Jr. was 2nd with 6 feature wins. This shows the newer wedge style hood on Gene's car. Aussiebloke, in the photo's Bob posted for you, the #33 midget is a LTC chassis, unless Gene built a LTC copy early in his midget racing days. All the Gennetten chassis I ever saw were just like the brown #3.

I also have a Midget raced by Gene Gennetten, I purchased the car in April from Sam Forder. Sam purchased it from Gene. Sams memory is not very good he thinks the car was built in 1968. The car was Dark Green or Black with Gold #'s, he thinks #3 or#33. Sam had the car painted Red with White #55 on it, car still has the Gold frame. Sam hired several guys to drive the car.
Tommy Ford,Wayne Lee, Bobby Wade, Mike Wente. Car was last raced in 1982. I would like to try and track the history of this car to. I will try and post a couple of pictures. I am new to this forum and not very good at posting pictures.
Thanks
Steve from St. Louis

At this time I have no plan to build it into a car but rather purchased it to adorn the shed.Maybe when we get through some other projects it will be made to a car . The que is long and time is in short supply

Yes I did also find information as you say Gene was a regular top 3 and story goes that when fellow racers saw Gene,s team roll into the pit they would wonder what 2nd place was paying for the night.
Im Genes Grandson Ayrton and i am wondering if you may still have that midget he built????

A side track I know but has anyone seen the video on Utube of Don Edmunds with his independent suspension midget ??
If not search for it turn up the volume & enjoy

In short it's about a car that he considered his best ever midget (his words) any way it was sold to Australia eventually he was very happy they sold it back to him
Well worth viewing
