Recently found a few old Pikes Peak Speedway cars from the 70's that Pete Page and others had posted on Facebook.

Yes, that's Larry's car, the black Nova is also his. He also built the gold and red 89 car, but sold it to Bob Howard before he ran it. It was the first car Bob ran at PPS.

What was the name of the track east of PPS on 24 across from the entrance to Pete Field?

Sportsman is the track I went to. Did not remember the name. I remember Ronny McDowell Bob Silvers and Vern Root. Ronny drove a T Bird with a 427. Bob had a 57 Chevy with a bored out 409. Vern had a 55 Chevy with a 427.

The track on the other side of Highway 24 was Sportsmans Raceway Park. It was later renamed. There were some very memorable cars at Sportsmans. Bob Silvers in his 409 powered 57 Chevy. Vern Root, who had one of the first 396 big block stock cars in the area. And Mike Wooley had a string of great cars at Sportsmans. I remember he had a blue 55 Chevy, a dayglo orange 55 Chevy ( had a one piece fiberglass lift off front ) and of course the yellow Studebaker Lark.
Bob Silvers later raced at Pikes Peak Speedway in a Camaro, #78.
