Default photos of pikes peak speedway 1948??

hello
I 2002 I found some 35 mm slides that were from probably one race
in the late 1940's ?? of midget car event. I found these slides in an oregon
thrift store far from their origins. Some of the photos are pretty good I would
like to send them to some one who will preserve them and share them with others.
apparently in my intro message I can't post pictures or links

That's excellent news. There isn't much in the way of photos from the late 40s and the 50s at Pikes Peak Speedway. There are some great people on this site who would love to help you out, myself included. Where do you live?

Walgreen's can make them into photographs for about 35 cents apiece. Gary Martelon (RMMRA Historian) would LOVE to see them.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

They have been converted from slides to jpeg computer photos which print nicely
at any photo shop. the slides are merely the masters or negatives. I can dropbox put on google+ or picassa web.Just let me know the email address you want them shared to. I'm currently having a difficult time posting them to the image galley. As soon as i crack the code of it they will be in the image section.

As for preserving the originals, you might want to check into donating them to the Pioneer Museum in Colorado Springs. They already have some Pikes Peak Speedway photos that were donated. It would be nice to have yours there near the old speedway.

Ron, you can Dropbox them to me and I can get them in the CARC (www.modcoupes.com) archives. I'll send you a private msg on this website with the email ID. Thx for taking the time to preserve the past!! Mike Wood

Holy smokes those photo's are amazing. If you are a Denver, or Colorado midget fan, especially regarding the glory years of the midgets, Ron's slides are a treasure trove. I've been pouring over them for hours, I wish my dad were still alive to see these, he saw these cars race that year (most of the photo's posted are from 1946) and he would be blown away to see them again in color. Truly amazing.

Mike, unless the midgets ran at a Denver area track I'm not familiar with, all those photo's with the covered grandstands are Lakeside Speedway. In 1946, the RMMRA ran 2 nights a week at Lakeside, 1 night a week at Pikes Peak Speedway, and 1 night a week in Fort Collins. None of the photo's appear to be from Fort Collins, but I can't tell for sure.
