Default Ody Fellows

His airplanes engine had failed, and it began to plummet to the ground. Ody Fellows thought that this might be his last flight. He was able to drag the wing of his plane on a canyon wall as he spiraled to the bottom. Finally the plane met the earth, and Ody was trapped in the wreckage. Many hours later he was extracated from the planes fuselage. This is just one of Odys many adventures. Ody drove sprinters, midgets, stock cars, modifieds, road race cars and rode motorcycles in competition. I will be loading up some of Odys collection in the next few weeks. There is a lot to load.

In the photos below, Ody poses in a sprint car. Dig the leather face treatment. The next photo is Ody, taken in 2007. Ody was inducted into the Big Car Racing Associations Hall of Fame in 2000. Today, Ody still fabricates cars and parts for oval track racers.

I love this photo. Odys wife had a great sense of humor and in Odys scrap book she added the little note: "I just put sugar in Lehmans gas tank". With the smirck that Ody has on, he may have done just that.

Cool little story Rick! Our family has always enjoyed watching Ody race. For some reason, I mostly remember that #12 Modified at Englewood. Mom & Dad probably remember more.

"I just put sugar in Lehman's gas tank".........man, that's classic!

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for the nice post on Ody. Olen good job on the link to Denver Post article, I would have missed it without your bit. True racer and not surprised he still is hands-on working in his shop.

Great things keep coming our way on ARM.

Thanks to all,

Chuck

PS: I delivered the Post as a teenager for three years! 58-61 time frame.

Hey Chuck, I was also a paper boy when I was about 12 yrs old in Miami,Florida. In those days the papers were small enough to fold them in a triangle so they were easier to toss from my bicycle.
I remember watching Ody Fellows race, but I never realized that he was a couple a years older than me.Old racers never die, they just wave the checkered goodbye.~Olen
