Default John Guttormson

Denver Colorado (July 25, 2011) – Sadly I must report on the passing of John Guttormson. John passed on Sunday July 24, 2011 after a long illness.

Here is a brief biography about John.

John was an illustrator for Martin Marrietta Corp from the late 50's to early 70's. Having a background an illustrator John used those skills to develop newspaper ads and program covers for the local racing organizations.

You have probably seen John’s work and never and never realized who did it.

John is also the father of Eric “Webby” Guttormson and Mitch “Mag” Guttormson, of Auto Racing Memories and Big West Racing.

More information will be posted later.

To the Guttormson family; So sorry for you loss. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting John, but with Mitch's help, really enjoyed putting together his racing bio for this site. Was just admiring some of his artwork today. Will always think of him when I pull out my CARC program with his artwork on it.

Life

Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.

We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay…
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.

For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.

LAKESIDE - Late at night by the old Lakeside Speedway, you can hear the ghosts - The barking, crackling "Flathead Fords", the zinging "Chevy Stove Bolt's", The rumbling of the "KK-Offy's", and the snarling "Ford V8-60's". Listen and faintly hear the announcer say, "Ladies and gentlemen, the line up for the trophy dash," and the place would erupt with the mix echoes of cheers and boo's...Remember...
