Default Cimarron Raceway-Keystone,Oklahoma

Cimarron Raceway near Keystone,Oklahoma, was probably the shortest lived auto race track in history. They ran their first race on Labor day weekend of 1991.It was a 1/4 mile dirt oval promoted by Vickie Lisle. The track which sat on 40 acres of land only had 7 races ran on it. As the track was being built they were already in the middle of a pending lawsuit from Keystone Peninsula Property Owners Association. There were picketers on the first night of practice which they were expecting. On opening night there were about 200 fans and 60 cars. In October of 1991 the local area land owners, complained of noise and dust sued the track for a temporary injunction. There were a lot of big shows already planned for the upcoming season, but a lot of hard work and dreams for the track came to an end.
You can vaguely still see the track from the Keystone Expressway as the orange press box, tractor tires and part of the lights and P.A. system still remain. The Pepsi lighted score board and other equipment was missing when the promoter got back after the court hearings.

Hi Olen,
I thought the oval at Second Creek had a short life, but this one is sad. It looks like it would have been a good place to race.
