Default Rick Carelli- TNN Nashville All American 400 1990

Here are some photos from my collection featuring Rick Carelli driving Marshal Chesrowns Chevy Lumina in the TNN All American 400 in Nashville Tennesee. Carelli had just landed this ride with Marshal Chesrown and this was one of the first leaps for owner and driver at higher rankings in the stock car circuits. The year is 1990, and my wife Gail and I were invited by Marshal to join them for this race. At this time, I was lettering the cars for Marshal but had not yet been invited to join the pit crew. The crew consisted of crew chief Joe Garrone, Tire Man Pat Smith, Tuner Rob White and Jack Man Kenny Schmidt. In one photo, a young Marshal Chesrown is shown with is leg up on a tool box reading something. In another, Jim Evans is shown standing in the Chesrown trailer just before doing Rick Carellis interview. All in all it was a great time for my wife and I. I am going to try and add a link to YOU TUBE, but I have tried this before and failed.

It was fun watching an "American Sports Cavalcade" again. I used to love their coverage of late model races--in many ways, the race broadcasts they produced were more interesting and better informed than the slicker, more polished products we have access to today. I watch a couple of other UTube segments that popped up--pretty nostalgic stuff. There were plenty of top-notch drivers in that race, and it was remarkable how clean they raced--none of this bump and run crap that happens so often now.
