Thumbs up Ivan (The Terrible) Baldwin

Hello! WOW what a great site for old racers.(and new) My home track was Western Speedway in Victoria BC. Canada. I have about 150 programs from 1970-1990 if anyone wants I will post photos.
I look forward to reading many posts here in future.

I am also researching photos/stories of Ivan Baldwin and his race cars from the 70'S and 80's. Ivan was the best west coast driver to race S Stocks in that period. He won many california championships and the IDC series in the pacific northwest in 1976, beating out Hershel Mcgriff. ANY info you have would be accepted and appreciated.

I refer to this thread from a few years ago. I watched Ivan race at Orange Show and San Gabriel Valley/Speedway 605 from 1971/1974. The yellow #07 was a winner wherever it went. Ivan wasn't the most liked driver (by some at least). I will always remember Ivan "The Terrible" Baldwin, "the CB Glass and Mirror Flash"

I believe he lost his life in a street rod.

Remember watching Wide World of Sports when Ivan took his Sportsman car to Daytona and lead many laps.

Ivan at San Gabriel Valley Speedway. Still running the 1957 Chevy must have been 1972/73

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Ivan Baldwin have something to to do with Ernie Irvan early in his career?

He did. He built Ernie a Nova to run at Stockton 99 Speedway in the late 70's or early 80"s and mentored him as a driver. It was one of Ivan's most succesful cars. Ernie had a lot of success and Ivan's style certainly rubbed off on Ernie. That car was for sale not long ago, Old blue number 10. Photos are available on Google Images if your interested.

.....'Anyone that was around on the west coast back in the '70's would surely know that one of the most dominate names in stock car racing was Ivan Baldwin. There are hundreds of articles like these. And 'Swervin' Irvan couldn't have had a better mentor than Ivan.

Man, I'm 62 years old and I remember Orange Show Speedway and San Gabriel Valley Speedway like yesterday. Names that stick out Bill Spencer, Bill Osbourne, Ramblin Ray Johnstone, Greg Schdeicker, Dan Clark, Rick Becker, Gary Mayeda, Chuck Becker Jr., Dean Huss, John Krebs, and Glen McCoy. And of course Ivan Baldwin!!! Corn dogs at OSS !!!!!!
