Thanks once again everyone! You've all posted some of the local heavy-hitters from that wonderful era. ~VB

In 1972 at Intermountain Speedway located in Cheyenne, WY, the #66 Darrell Stewart '55 Chevy finished second in points ahead of the multi-year track champion #13 Kenny Clark '55 Chevy.

It sure would be neat to see some pictures of the Kenny Clark green #13 '55 Chevy that was sponsored by the Spirits Lounge in Cheyenne.

Any guess on who won the 1972 track championship at Intermountain Speedway in a '55 Chevy? ~VB

I don't even know if these guys ran Chevys or not, so I'll just guess three names I know were running at I.S. in that time frame.....Bill Noud?.....Clarence Kreiger?.....or Gerry Schilling? (I know he had a '55)

And Buzz, didn't you have a yellow '55 back in the day?? I don't remember what track you ran it at, but if you did, post a pic of it here!

Jerry Lee, you have such a great memory! ~VB

Here's the Cederburg/Noud/Wendzel (CN&W) #84 '55 Chevys from the 1968 and 1969 seasons at Intermountain Speedway in Cheyenne, WY.

And here's the Noud/Wingo/Wendzel #98 '55 Chevy from the 1971 season at Intermountain Speedway.

And one of your three guesses was correct. It was the Noud/Wingo/Wendzel #98 '55 Chevy in a much wilder full-race dress that won the 1972 track championship at Intermountain Speedway. Other than a past avatar that I once used, pics of the 1972 Noud/Wingo/Wendzel #98 '55 Chevy have never been posted to ARM...only on the now defunct Colorado Racing Memories (CRM) site. I'll dig them out and post them in the next few days. ~VB

Hey Buzz, do you have any of Kenny Clark, Phil Ash, Bill McChone, Herb Renz, Micky Thompson, Bob Martin, these are just a few of the Cheyenne guys who ran beautiful 55's over the years?

Right on ALVIS! I'm happy to hear that you still have a '55 that has not been defiled. A few years ago, my bone-stock '55 Belair 2-door post went to its happy new owner out in Ventura, CA. I'm still kicking myself for letting it go.

And come 'judgement day,' myself and a whole lot of other gear heads will be trying to justify why we defiled so many fine 55's for our simple pleasure to roundy-round every Saturday night. Oh well, at least I'll have company with similar interests in the ever after. ~VB

Hey Bruce-- Those are some of the real heavy-hitters from that era at Intermountain Speedway in Cheyenne, WY. Do you remember the chrome-white USA 1 '55 Chevy that Wade Childers built and drove? Or how about the yellow #64 Jack Hahn 'Soda Pop Gang' '55 Chevy? Man, I wish that I did have access to any or all of their original photos.
My 'Big Red' W.A.R.C. History Book covers the years 1948 through 1978 at Intermountain Speedway. I really need to look for a person or business that can take this precious book apart and then put it back together after I've scanned all 300+ pages.
