Great stuff Bob!
Here's another high flying Stocker. Don't know if he's missing his pants, but it looks like he's missing an engine......

Another famous photo from the early 1960s at the Sydney Showground.
Peter Cunneen parts company [although he is still attached via his lap belt] with his midget when it goes into a series of wild flips.

Jerry Lee, and Bob, great stuff, man I'd stay away from that #2 midget, some cars are cursed, that looks like one. Don't think I've ever seen a driver wearing shorts!?!

Probably the most dangerous division in the old days, the "Hot Rod" or "Roaring Roadster" division. Cars were loosely regulated at best, very cool and interesting race cars, but man, dangerous.

The driver looks like he's trying to use his knee to wedge himself back into his seat, or trying to keep him in the car. From Dick Wallen's book "Roaring Roadsters the Road to Indy"

John Mahoney captures Gary Irvin flipping out of the 1987 Hoosier Hundred on the Indy Fairgrounds mile. When you flip on a 1 mile oval, it's gonna be bad no matter what, check out how Irvin is putting every piece of safety equipment to the test, shoulder harness, neck restraint, arm restraints, all getting stressed tested!

Len Brock 1960s ?.....

Did you notice that Brock is hanging on to the exhaust?
You could have a section just on him.

The other guy that had some big ones was Johnny Stewart
And just 5 weeks after the above he did this.

I'm unsure of the driver, track, or year, but this high flying Jalopy looks to be starting a violent set of barrel rolls.

I first saw these amazing photos many, many years ago.
John Rutherford at Eldora, April 1966.
What can one say except ...WHEW!!!!
I saw him race midgets about 4 years later, here in Sydney.

From the cover of Mechanix Illustrated 1959.
I have no other details, but man, he is getting some AIR!
How ironic.....wonder what the good Senator thought when about a decade later along came the "World of Outlaws"
