Default John Hochmiller

John Emil Hochmiller

John Hochmiller, 84 of Hudson, passed away on Sunday January 4, 2015 at the North Colorado Medical Center. John was the youngest of 12 children born to Martin Luther and Anna (Hutnik) Hochmiller on October 6, 1930 in Whitehall Pennsylvania.

He was enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Lowrie Air Force Base which resulted in making Colorado his permanent home. He then worked for Onorato Garage in North Denver. There he met his wife Eleanor of 56 years until her death in 2013. John and Eleanor received the gift of adoption with their two children, John and Jeri.

He started his own business, Johnnyís Motor Service in Arvada. He was a successful race car owner and driver at the Lakeside and Englewood Speedways. During his racing career most competitors considered him far ahead of his time for his innovative race car and engine building capabilities that resulted in multiple Championships.

In the 1970ís, he owned various used car dealerships throughout the Denver area. In 1977 he moved his family from Golden to Hudson where he started Active Truck Parts, Inc. After 37 years, it is now a third generation business. Owning many rental properties throughout his life, he continued to invest in real estate until the time of his death.

Survivors include his sister, Irene Brown of Copley PA.; daughter, Jeri (Kameron) Jacobs of Lewellen, Nebraska; son, John (Cynthia) Hochmiller of LaSalle, grandsons, Chado Jacobs, Bradley Hochmiller, Ryan Hochmiller; granddaughter, Randee Hochmiller; great grandson, Hayden Jacobs and his canine best friend, Katie. Preceded in death by his wife Eleanor, five brothers and five sisters.

A memorial service to celebrate Johnís life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2014 at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in LaSalle, 225 S. 6th Street in LaSalle.
