Default Can you name these 1970 Midget power plants?

Here is a cool pic of 8 power plants used in the early 70's.
Can you match the engines with the pictures?

Random list of the 8.
Chevy II (4 cyl).
Chevy (with Ford head).
Miller.
Ford Falcon.
Sesco (1/2 V-8 Chevy).
Ford Jigger V8-60.
Offenhauser.
Ford V8-60.

Have fun.

.....'Hey! Thanks for that. I like it when someone dredges up old magazine articles regarding open wheel midget and sprint car racing. Please keep them coming.

Top to bottom (Left)

1. Miller
2. Offenhauser
3. Chevy II
4. SESCO-Chevy

Top to bottom (Right)

1. Ford V8-60
2. Ford Jigger V8-60
3. Ford Falcon
4. Chevy w/Ford Cyl. Head

Obviously, the predecessor to the Offy, the Miller, had carbs and the Offy displayed had the Hilborns.

I'd like to know more about that Chevy II. What fuel injection did it have? It doesn't look like Algon, Eggers-Vetting or Hilborn?

I wonder what Ford head that Chevy II had on it? I know that when Ron Hoettels at SESCO tried the Ford Boss 302 head, the engine would hardly even run on the short tracks because the valves were so big!!! ('Could have been an exaggeration.)

Our experiences were, anytime a racing engine doesn't have a cross-flow head, it's always a real pain to work on and assemble.

Thanks again, cemar.

Great post cemar!
I inherited the midget-racecar-gene from my dad along with all his stories concerning midget racing in Colorado during the '40s and '50s. For me, it has always been about the numerous engines that have powered these magnificent racecars over the decades. And when you factor in the owners/drivers/teams and their pride-of-ownership, it gets even better. ~VB
